HDMI ARC is buggy and unreliable

i bought this soundbar to go with a samsung tv. i connected the tv and soundbar with the included hdmi cable to both hdmi arc ports then a roku ultra to another hdmi port. the tv kept turning off when watching streaming on the roku. i ended up having to use the optical connection from the tv to the soundbar to finally reduce (but not eliminate) the flakiness and unwanted behavior. my old sony bravia tv and soundbar never had any problem like this. afther this and the smartthings-adt debacle where samsung is going to brick the hub, i am done with samsung products.

Disappointed -

the reason i bought the soundbar was to improve the "standard" sound of my samsung t8200 tv. i found the "standard" amplified option on my tv is far better than the sound options on the soundbar. the only option is the dts option is which seems to be louder than the standard tv sound. very disappointed. not sure will keep it or return it.

Disappointing Sound Quality
Rob K

i purchased this for use in my bedroom. although this soundbar is an improvement over the internal speakers on the televison, the overall sound quality is disappointing. the soundbar lacks crisp clear sound and the audio seems muffled. the subwoofer is not very powerful and also lacks definition. the sound quality issues aren't helped by the lack of adjustment options. all this soundbar comes with is a treble and bass control. that's it. no balance or fade adjustments. no mid-range adjustments. no way to adjust bass on the subwoofer independently of the soundbar. i'm not willing to risk buying the rear surround speakers although they may help.
overall, i am disappointed in this and if i hadn't already tossed the box, i would return this.

Superb "budget" soundbar.

this is my first soundbar, and i must say, i am very impressed.
the sound is very rich and there is even a "surround sound" effect depending on the settings you choose. the quality you get with this soundbar at the price you get it for is really hard to beat. my friend has a 150 dollar samsung soundbar (not sure which model), and it comes nowhere close to the quality of this system. not only is the soundbar terrific quality, but it comes with a huge, booming subwoofer to give you a real theatrical experience in the comfort of your own home. as a bonus, if you have a samsung t.v. it has extra features.
if you are looking for a "budget" soundbar (under $300) that has top-notch sound quality, look no further.

NO AUX! BT Laggy, not great for projectors/fireTV
NYCprojector

would give this a 0 if i could as there is a lag on the sound for bluetooth with my brand new projector. you'd think by now we'd have this down. but samsung removed the old faithful aux cord input for some reason and firetv/projectors don't have digital outputs and the hdmi setup wouldn't work so i'm forced to use bluetooth.
now the words don't match the lips on my shows which is super annoying!
customer service for this was horrible as well (note there's separate tech support and sales support).
the sound is good for music and it was auto-starting/connecting to my projector which is nice but with this lag it doesn't matter.
this has created a lifelong samsung hater and detractor.

first, the sound bar and subwoofer sound amazing! i have no problem with the quality of the product.
but i checked the manuals for both it and my tv and i cannot figure out how to make it stop coming on automatically.
i don't want it to come on all the time. i'm also a little confused about the updates. i think it has to be done through usb but it would be nice to be able to do it through bluetooth.
i've sent several emails but can't get anyone to respond and it is impossible to get anyone on the phone or chat.

Sound micro cuts with DTS source
danielr

it could be great but it has an annoying issue: when connected to a dts source the sound keeps cutting off for a fraction of a second every 20 minutes or so, whether it's connected through hdmi or optical.
i'm already running the latest firmware so i'm thinking of returning it.

Keeps switching from HDMI

we had an hw-h450 sound bar for years. we only used the hdmi input. when you initially turned it on, it would always change from hdmi to "d. in". typically we would click the source button a couple of times, and it would eventually stay on hdmi. that sound bar died a couple of months ago, so i purchased the hw-t550. we have a samsung tv and dvd player, so i figured i would stay with that brand in hopes of not having that problem again...nope! now i can't get it to stay on hdmi at all!.
here's the setup...we have three (3) devices (apple tv, a cable box, and and dvd player) that go into a 5-port hdmi switch. the hdmi switch output then goes into the sound bar input, and the sound bar output goes in to the tv hdmi 1 input. every time i try to use the apple tv, it won't stay on hdmi.

i purchased this soundbar with high expectations. unfortunately, my experience has been terrible. i can only get sound when i connect my samsung tv with an optical cable. if i connect a mobile device (i tried a note 9, an s10+ and an ipad ) via bluetooth there is no sound. i can pair the device, but no sound. disappointing.

i had this soundbar for sometime now, and i bought the rear wireless speakers kit. but i notice that this speakers sound is too low. also when i'm watching netflix and the audio format is 5.1 the dialog is low and sometimes i even have to put the volumen up almost at 40 to proper hear what they are saying in the movie. even after adding the rear speakers. now is there anyway i can fix this since i increased the volume of the rear speakers to +6?. other than this is a good product overall.

I bought it for a small TV room and it's excellent as expected. At this price point I wouldn't expect midrange adjustments but, would've been nice. I already own a HW-K460/ZA and this HW-T550 has a subwoofer volume level which I love. DTS Virtual:X is nice also. Great for small to medium sized rooms.
